INSTALLATION: Not fitted onto the wire rope or crimped. The fork is screwed onto a wire rope terminal or threaded rod with an external left-hand (LH) thread of the same thread size, for example Threaded terminal crimped left-hand thread M8620, Mini threaded terminal left-hand thread M8446 and Mini threaded terminal long left-hand thread M8448, and secured with a lock nut.

LEFT-HAND THREAD: If the wire rope is to be tensioned with a turnbuckle, right- and left-hand threads are required in pairs. The equivalent fork with a right-hand thread is Fork terminal with internal thread | right-hand thread | A4 | M8455.

Fork terminal with internal left-hand thread (LH) in A4 stainless steel, also known as fork with internal thread, fork head, threaded fork or jaw with internal thread, is intended for use in corrosive and marine environments. It has a fork with a bolt and locking device at one end and an internal metric thread at the other, so that a threaded terminal or threaded rod can be finished with a fork. The product is used where the wire rope is to be attached around an eye, a mounting eye or a wire rope plate. It is suitable for installations where a long service life and consistent performance are crucial.

APPLICATION

The product is used in wire rope railings, marine rigging, stays, pergolas and barriers, together with threaded wire rope terminals. It is intended for applications where the choice of material provides the necessary protection against corrosion and mechanical stress. Available with internal left-hand thread (LH) M5, M6, M8 and M10.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)

How is the fork installed?

Screw a nut onto the external thread of the terminal, then screw the fork in as far as the thread engages fully in the threaded part of the fork (L2) and tighten the nut against the fork as a lock nut. The fork and the terminal must have the same thread size and the same thread direction – left-hand thread (LH).

Which terminals are suitable?

All wire rope terminals with an external left-hand thread (LH) of the same size, for example Threaded terminal crimped left-hand thread M8620, Mini threaded terminal left-hand thread M8446 and Mini threaded terminal long left-hand thread M8448. Check the thread size of the terminal you have: M5, M6, M8 or M10.

Do I need crimping tools?

No. This part is not crimped and is not fitted onto the wire rope – it is screwed together with a wire rope terminal that is already fitted onto the wire rope. The wire rope terminal itself can be crimped or crimp-free (DIY). We only sell the components and do not perform any installation work. See all wire rope terminals.

Can the part be used for lifting?

No. WASI does not specify a breaking load and the part is not intended for use as a lifting device.

What is the difference between A2 and A4?

A4 (AISI 316) contains molybdenum and is acid-resistant, which provides better resistance to salt and chlorides than A2 (AISI 304). A4 is recommended for boats and coastal environments.
