INSTALLATION: Pressed terminal – requires pressing tools (hand press, hydraulic press or rolling machine) and is normally installed by a rigger or wire workshop. Cannot be installed with standard hand tools. Do you want to install it yourself on 1×19 wire? See Fork terminal press-free DIY | for 1x19 wire | A4 | M8323 or all wire terminals.

WELDED – not turned: On this model, the fork is welded onto the press sleeve. It is the affordable standard choice for wire railings, gardens and general rigging, and is available in most sizes (2–12 mm wire). If you are looking for a version without a welded joint, see Pressed fork terminal | turned | A4 | M8316MT.

Pressed fork terminal welded in A4 stainless steel, also called fork terminal for wire, press terminal with fork, rolling terminal fork or fork terminal, is intended for use in corrosive and marine environments. The terminal is pressed (rolled) onto the wire end and has a fork with a removable bolt at the other end. The product is used where a wire needs to be attached to a mounting eye, turnbuckle plate, loop or turnbuckle screw and be able to be released by pulling out the bolt. It is suitable for professional installations where a long lifespan and consistent performance are crucial.

APPLICATION

The product is used in wire railings and balustrades, gardens and landscaping, barriers, suspensions and marine rigging. It is intended for applications where the wire needs to be terminated with a fork and where the material choice provides the necessary protection against corrosion and mechanical stress. Available for 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10 and 12 mm wire.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)

What is the difference between a pressed and a press-free (DIY) fork terminal?

A pressed fork terminal has a smooth sleeve that is clamped onto the wire with pressing tools. It provides a slim, permanent connection but requires tools and cannot be removed without cutting the wire. A press-free DIY terminal has a cone and thread and is installed with standard wrenches, but only fits 1×19 wire, see M8323. This product is pressed.

Can I install the terminal myself?

Only if you have access to pressing tools with pressing dies for the correct wire size. Otherwise, a rigger or wire workshop should press it, or you can choose a press-free DIY terminal.

Can you press the terminal for me?

No, we only sell the components. Contact a rigger or wire workshop, or choose a press-free DIY terminal that you install yourself.

Welded or turned fork terminal – what is the difference and which should I choose?

The welded fork terminal (M8316) has the fork welded onto the press sleeve, is electropolished and is available for 2–12 mm wire at a lower price. The turned fork terminal (M8316MT) is turned and has no welded joint between the fork and sleeve. It is available for 4–8 mm wire and is often chosen where appearance is important. Both are pressed in the same way. See turned fork terminal M8316MT.

How strong will the press be?

According to the manufacturer, up to 60% of the wire's minimum breaking load is achieved with correct pressing or rolling. Therefore, size according to the wire's breaking load with a suitable safety factor.

Does the length change when the terminal is pressed?

Yes, the terminal's total length (L1) can be extended by up to 10% during pressing. Take this into account when determining the wire length.

Which size should I choose?

Choose the variant according to the wire's nominal diameter, i.e., the steel core and not the outer diameter of a PVC-coated wire. Also check the bolt diameter (D) and fork opening (A) against the mount, see the dimension drawing.

What is the difference between A2 and A4?

A4 (AISI 316) contains molybdenum and is acid-resistant, which provides better resistance to salt and chlorides than A2 (AISI 304). A4 is recommended for boats and coastal environments.
