INSTALLATION: Crimp terminal – requires crimping tools (hand crimper, hydraulic press or rolling machine) and is normally installed by a rigger or wire workshop. Cannot be installed with standard hand tools. Do you want to install it yourself on 1×19 wire? See Fork terminal crimp-free DIY | for 1x19 wire | A4 | M8323 or all wire terminals.

MACHINED – not welded: In this model, the fork and crimp sleeve are machined, without a welded joint between the fork and sleeve. It is often chosen for visible installations where a smooth, uniform appearance is important. Available for 4–8 mm wire. If you are looking for the affordable standard version or sizes 2, 3, 10 and 12 mm, see Fork terminal crimped | welded | A4 | M8316.

Fork terminal crimped machined in A4 stainless steel, also called machined fork terminal for wire, crimp terminal with fork, rolling terminal fork or fork terminal, is intended for use in corrosive and marine environments. The terminal is crimped (rolled) onto the wire end and has a fork with a removable bolt at the other end. The product is used where a wire needs to be attached to a mounting eye, turnbuckle plate, loop or turnbuckle screw and be able to be released by removing the bolt. It is suitable for professional installations where long service life and consistent performance are crucial.

APPLICATION

The product is used in wire railings in architecture and interior design, facades, ship railings and boat railings, marine rigging and barriers. It is intended for applications where the wire needs to be terminated with a fork and where the material choice provides the necessary protection against corrosion and mechanical stress. Available for 4, 5, 6 and 8 mm wire.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)

Welded or machined fork terminal – what is the difference and which should I choose?

The machined fork terminal (M8316MT) is machined and has no welded joint between the fork and sleeve. It is available for 4–8 mm wire and is often chosen where appearance is important. The welded fork terminal (M8316) has the fork welded onto the crimp sleeve, is electropolished and is available for 2–12 mm wire at a lower price. Both are crimped in the same way. See welded fork terminal M8316.

Does it fit the same fittings as the welded model?

Yes. For 4–8 mm wire, both models have the same bolt diameter (D), fork opening (A) and height (H). The crimp sleeve diameter and length differ slightly, see the dimension drawing.

What is the difference between crimped and crimp-free (DIY) fork terminal?

A crimped fork terminal has a smooth sleeve that is clamped onto the wire with crimping tools. It provides a slim, permanent connection but requires tools and cannot be removed without cutting the wire. A crimp-free DIY terminal has a cone and thread and is installed with standard wrenches, but only fits 1×19 wire, see M8323. This product is crimped.

Can I install the terminal myself?

Only if you have access to crimping tools with crimping dies for the correct wire size. Otherwise, a rigger or wire workshop should crimp it, or you can choose a crimp-free DIY terminal.

Can you crimp the terminal for me?

No, we only sell the components. Contact a rigger or wire workshop, or choose a crimp-free DIY terminal that you install yourself.

Which size should I choose?

Choose the variant according to the wire's nominal diameter, i.e., the steel core and not the outer diameter of a PVC-coated wire. Also check the bolt diameter (D) and fork opening (A) against the fitting, see the dimension drawing.

What is the difference between A2 and A4?

A4 (AISI 316) contains molybdenum and is acid-resistant, which provides better resistance to salt and chlorides than A2 (AISI 304). A4 is recommended for boats and coastal environments.
