Sleeve terminal crimp-free DIY | for wire rope 1x19 | A4 | M8324
INSTALLATION: Press-free DIY terminal – installed with standard hand tools (wrenches), without crimping tools. Only for 1×19 wire rope (rigid wire rope with 19 strands). Not suitable for 7×7, 7×19 or other flexible wire ropes. Should the terminal be crimped by a rigger instead? See our crimped wire rope terminals.
Press-free DIY splice terminal in A4 stainless steel, also known as a double terminal, wire rope splice, press-free splice sleeve or swageless double connector, is intended for use in corrosive and marine environments. The terminal has a cone lock at each end and splices two wire rope ends together without crimping tools. The product is used where a 1×19 wire rope needs to be extended or repaired. It is suitable for installations where a long service life and consistent performance are crucial.
APPLICATION
The product is used in marine rigging, wire rope railings and stays where the wire rope is of the 1×19 type and where two wire rope ends need to be spliced on site without crimping tools. It is intended for applications where the choice of material provides the necessary protection against corrosion and mechanical stress. Available for 8 mm 1×19 wire rope.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)
Which wire rope is the terminal suitable for?
Only wire rope with the 1×19 construction, a rigid wire rope with 19 strands primarily used for shrouds, stays and wire rope railings. The terminal locks the outer strands of the wire rope around a cone inside the sleeve, and the cone is adapted to 1×19. For softer wire rope such as 7×7 or 7×19, you should choose a crimped terminal or another solution. Choose the size according to the nominal diameter of the wire rope.
How is a press-free terminal installed?
The principle is the same as for other press-free cone terminals: the sleeve is slid onto the wire rope, the outer strands of the wire rope are loosened a short distance from the end, the cone is slid onto the core strands and the outer strands are laid back evenly around the cone. Then the parts of the terminal are screwed together and tightened with wrenches. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for the exact stripping length and tightening torque, and check that no strands are out of place before loading the wire rope.
What is the difference between a crimped and a press-free (DIY) terminal?
A crimped terminal has a smooth sleeve that is clamped onto the wire rope with crimping tools (hand crimping tool, hydraulic press or rolling machine). It becomes slim and permanent but requires tools and normally a rigger. A press-free DIY terminal is locked mechanically with a cone and thread and installed with standard wrenches, for example on board or on site. It is coarser than a crimped terminal. See all wire rope terminals.
Can you install the terminal for me?
No, we only sell the components and do not perform any installation work. The press-free terminal is intended to be installed by you yourself with hand tools.
Can the terminal be used for lifting?
No. WASI does not specify a breaking load for the terminal and it is not intended as a lifting device. Size the wire rope and fitting according to the current application and applicable regulations.
What is the difference between A2 and A4?
A4 (AISI 316) contains molybdenum and is acid-resistant, which provides better resistance to salt and chlorides than A2 (AISI 304). A4 is recommended for boats and coastal environments.
Can I splice two wire ropes of different diameters?
No, the splice terminal is made for the same wire rope dimension at both ends, 8 mm 1×19.
What other press-free terminals are available?
