Stud bolt A4 DIN 939, also referred to as a threaded stud or set screw, in acid-proof stainless steel A4-70 (AISI 316) is intended for use in outdoor, industrial, and marine environments where a detachable threaded connection with a secure anchor in a threaded hole is required. The product complies with DIN 939 with an insertion end of 1.25 x d and is used where a removable connection to housings, flanges, and machine parts is needed. It is suitable for professional installations where long service life and consistent performance are crucial.

FIELD OF APPLICATION

The stud bolt is used in machinery construction, flange connections, pumps, valve bodies, the chemical industry, and marine installations. It is intended for applications where a threaded stud is screwed into a threaded hole, for example in cast iron or steel, and where the material choice provides the necessary protection against corrosion and mechanical load. The acid-proof stud bolt is available in dimensions M6, M8, M10, M12, M16, M20, M24, and M30.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)

What is a stud bolt and what does DIN 939 mean?

A stud bolt, also called a threaded stud, is a headless screw threaded at both ends. One end is screwed into a threaded hole, and the other end receives a nut. DIN 939 specifies stud bolts with an insertion end of approximately 1.25 times the thread diameter (1.25 x d), intended for use in materials such as cast iron.

What is the difference between DIN 938, DIN 939, and DIN 835?

The difference lies in the length of the insertion end. DIN 938 has 1.0 x d and is primarily used in steel, DIN 939 has 1.25 x d and is used in materials such as cast iron, and DIN 835 has 2.0 x d and is used in softer materials like aluminum. Choose the standard based on the material of the threaded hole.

How do I choose the right length for the stud bolt?

The length refers to the total length of the stud bolt excluding the insertion end. Choose the length based on the material thickness of the parts to be clamped together, as well as the height of the washer and nut, so that at least a couple of thread turns protrude above the nut.

Is A4 suitable for marine environments?

A4 (AISI 316) contains molybdenum and has better resistance to chlorides than A2, making the material suitable for coastal and marine environments. In conditions of constant seawater contact or stagnant, low-oxygen conditions, even A4 can be subject to crevice corrosion and should therefore be checked against the specific application.

What is the difference between A2 and A4?

A4 (AISI 316) contains molybdenum and tolerates chlorides better than A2 (AISI 304). Choose A4 for marine environments or chemical exposure, and A2 for general indoor and outdoor use. The A2 variant is available as Stud bolt A2 DIN 939.
