Lifting eye WS 9580 in acid-proof stainless steel A4 (AISI 316), also known as an eye bolt, is intended for suspension, anchoring, and fastening in damp, marine, and chemically demanding environments. The product is cast and electropolished, designed according to DIN 580, and is used where a fixed eye with an external metric thread is required. It is suitable for professional installations where a long service life and consistent performance are essential.

Please note: This lifting eye is cast and is not CE-marked as lifting equipment. It is intended for suspension, anchoring, and as a fastening point – not for lifting. For lifting operations, please choose our forged and CE-marked A4 lifting eye according to DIN 580.

AREAS OF APPLICATION

The product is used in the boating and marine sector, for railings and fences, in gardening and landscaping, construction, mechanical engineering, and the process industry. It is intended for applications where a fixed suspension or anchoring point is required and where the material selection provides the necessary protection against corrosion and mechanical stress, e.g., for wire rope, chain, tensioning devices, and barriers. The lifting eye is available in thread sizes M6, M8, M10, M12, M16, and M20.

For a corresponding version with an internal thread, please see the A4 lifting eye nut WS 9582.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)

Can I use lifting eye WS 9580 for lifting?

No. WS 9580 is cast and is not CE-marked as lifting equipment, and the manufacturer explicitly states that it is not approved for lifting. It is intended for suspension, anchoring, and fixed fastening points. For lifting, a forged, CE-marked lifting eye is required, such as our A4 DIN 580 CE-marked lifting eye.

What is the difference between WS 9580 and DIN 580?

WS 9580 has the same basic shape as an eye bolt according to DIN 580, but it is cast instead of forged, has slightly different dimensions, and lacks CE-marking and a specified working load. The manufacturer therefore only provides dimensions for the WS 9580. A genuine DIN 580 lifting eye is forged, tested, and CE-marked for use as lifting equipment, with a specified Working Load Limit (WLL) per size and direction of pull.

What is the difference between a forged and a cast lifting eye?

A forged lifting eye has a denser and more homogeneous material structure than a cast one, which provides greater toughness and better resistance to impact and fatigue. Cast lifting eyes are suitable for static suspension and anchoring, while forged, CE-marked lifting eyes are used for lifting. Read more about the difference between forged and cast products.

How do I mount the lifting eye correctly?

Screw the lifting eye in completely so that the collar rests flat against the mounting surface. The threaded hole must have sufficient depth and material thickness for the entire thread length. In the case of angled pulls, the plane of the eye should be aligned with the direction of the pull. We recommend using assembly paste to reduce the risk of cold welding (galling) between stainless steel threads.

What is the difference between A2 and A4?

A4 (AISI 316) contains molybdenum and has significantly better resistance to chlorides than A2 (AISI 304). A4 is called acid-proof and is recommended for saltwater, coastal environments, swimming pools, and chemically demanding environments, while A2 is suitable for indoor and normal outdoor use.
