Do you need a flange lock nut for demanding environments? This A4 / AISI 316 acid-proof stainless steel lock nut is developed to provide very high corrosion resistance in humid, salty, and chemically exposed environments, while offering a reliable locking function.

The nut is equipped with a nylon insert (polyamide) that creates a friction-based lock against the bolt threads. This effectively prevents self-loosening under vibration and dynamic loads. The locking mechanism is gentle on the threads and allows for reuse in applications with moderate requirements.

The integrated flange has a smooth bearing surface, which provides even load distribution without damaging or marking the substrate. The flange acts as a fixed washer and eliminates the need for separate washers, simplifying assembly and providing a stable connection.

Please note that the nylon insert limits the operating temperature (typically up to approx. +100–120 °C) and can be affected by certain chemicals.

AREA OF APPLICATION

Suitable for fasteners in marine environments, coastal structures, the food industry, and other applications where high corrosion resistance is combined with a need for vibration security. The smooth flange makes the nut particularly suitable where the substrate must not be damaged or deformed.

Easily mounted with a standard wrench or socket wrench and requires minimal maintenance.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)

Can the lock nut be reused?

Yes, lock nuts with nylon inserts can be reused a limited number of times as long as the locking function (the friction in the nylon ring) is maintained. However, in critical applications or where secure locking is vital, it is recommended to replace the nut upon disassembly.

Can this nut withstand high temperatures?

No, the nylon insert limits the operating temperature to approximately +100–120 °C. At higher temperatures, an all-metal lock nut (e.g., DIN 6927) should be used instead.

What is the advantage of a smooth flange compared to a serrated one?

A smooth flange provides even contact without damaging or marking the substrate. It is therefore suitable for softer materials or visible surfaces where you want to avoid marks, whereas serrated flanges provide higher friction but may affect the surface.
