Lock nut with flange | A2 | DIN 6926
Do you need a flange lock nut for reliable fastenings in corrosive environments? This lock nut in A2 / AISI 304 stainless steel combines good corrosion resistance with a secure locking function and is well-suited for most outdoor and industrial environments.
The nut is equipped with a nylon insert (polyamide) that creates a friction-based lock against the threads of the bolt. This effectively prevents the nut from loosening due to vibrations and dynamic loads. The locking mechanism is gentle on the threads and allows for reuse in applications with moderate requirements.
The integrated flange has a smooth bearing surface, which provides even load distribution without damaging or marking the substrate. The flange acts as a fixed washer and eliminates the need for separate washers, which simplifies assembly and ensures a stable fastening.
Please note that the nylon insert limits the operating temperature (typically up to approx. +100–120 °C) and can be affected by certain chemicals.
APPLICATION AREA
Suitable for building structures, machine assembly, automotive applications, and general outdoor environments where vibration security is required. The A2 grade provides good corrosion resistance in normal environments, but is not recommended for marine or highly chemically aggressive environments – where A4 is a better choice.
Easily mounted with a standard wrench or socket wrench and requires minimal maintenance.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)
Can the lock nut be reused?
Yes, lock nuts with a nylon insert can be reused a limited number of times as long as there is still friction in the nylon ring. For safety-critical fastenings, however, it is recommended to replace the nut upon disassembly.
What is the difference between A2 and A4?
A2 (AISI 304) has good corrosion resistance in normal environments, while A4 (AISI 316) is acid-proof and better suited for marine and chemically aggressive environments.
Why choose a smooth flange instead of a serrated one?
A smooth flange provides an even bearing surface without damaging the substrate, which is important for softer materials or visible surfaces. Serrated flanges provide higher friction but can leave marks on the material.
