BiM-Co Hole Saw is manufactured from bimetal with 8% cobalt, which provides excellent wear resistance and heat tolerance. The robust construction allows the hole saw to withstand high loads while delivering smooth, precise cuts. The combination of materials and design ensures a long service life and efficient cutting in a variety of materials.

APPLICATIONS

BiM-Co hole saws are used for cutting into materials such as steel, stainless steel, alloy metals, aluminum, and wood. Ideal for industrial applications, installations, and craft work where high performance and precision are essential. Suitable for both stationary and handheld machines.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)

What does it mean that the hole saw has 8% cobalt (BiM-Co) and what is the advantage?

A bimetal hole saw is manufactured by welding a spring steel backing to a high-speed steel (HSS) cutting edge. The addition of 8% cobalt (Co) in the tooth section provides several significant advantages:

  • Outstanding heat resistance: Cobalt prevents the teeth from losing their hardness and sharpness at the high temperatures that occur when drilling into hard materials such as stainless steel (A2/A4) or acid-resistant steel.

  • Extended service life: The wear resistance of the cutting edge increases drastically compared to standard HSS hole saws, resulting in significantly more holes per blade even under heavy load.

  • Reduced tooth breakage: The spring steel backing gives the hole saw the flexibility required to absorb shocks and vibrations without the body cracking or the teeth breaking off.

Which materials is the BiM-Co hole saw best suited for?

Thanks to its extreme heat resistance and tooth geometry, it is a universal choice for both demanding metals and softer building materials:

  • Metal & Stainless: Excellent for hole making in stainless steel, acid-resistant sheet metal, cast iron, steel plate, aluminum, copper, and brass.

  • Wood & Construction Boards: Cuts quickly and cleanly in hardwood, particle board, MDF, drywall, plastic, and composite materials.

  • Pipes & Profiles: Works perfectly for cutting holes in thin-walled pipes and steel profiles for HVAC or electrical installations.

How do you drill correctly to maximize the hole saw's service life?

  1. Adjust the RPM: Use a lower RPM the harder the material is and the larger the diameter you use. Stainless steel requires a significantly lower drilling speed than wood and plastic.

  2. Use cutting oil when drilling metal: Always apply cutting oil or cutting paste when drilling into steel and stainless steel. Lubrication reduces friction, cools the teeth, and significantly extends the sharpness of the cobalt teeth.

  3. Feed evenly and avoid vibrations: Hold the drill perpendicular to the workpiece. Let the teeth do the work without pushing so hard that the drill motor stalls or the teeth catch.
