The ISO 14580 cheese head screw (Torx) in stainless A2 is designed to provide secure fastening and a long service life, even in corrosive and exposed environments. The low cheese head, combined with the Torx recess, provides efficient torque transmission and reduces the risk of cam-out during installation. The design enables stable assembly where low installation height is required, without compromising on strength or function.

FIELD OF APPLICATION

Ideal for fastening where a low head is required and space above the joint is limited, for example in mechanical engineering, construction, automotive, marine installations, and industrial structures. The Torx recess provides high torque transmission and secure installation with reduced tool wear. The screw is particularly well-suited for environments where corrosion resistance and operational reliability are critical.

Watch video: Tightening torque for stainless screws

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

Product type: Low cheese head screw
Standard: ISO 14580
Material: Stainless steel A2 (A2-70)
Surface finish: Untreated / passivated stainless surface
Grip: Not applicable
Drive type: Torx (hexalobular internal)
Function: Low head for installation with limited height clearance
Length: Available in several lengths depending on dimension
Weight: Varies depending on dimension and length

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)

What are the characteristics of a cheese head screw according to ISO 14580?

ISO 14580 (previously often corresponding to DIN 7984 with Torx) is a cheese head screw with a low/low-profile head and an internal Torx recess (TX recess). The low head makes it perfect for applications with limited space, while the Torx drive provides superior torque transmission and reduces the risk of the tool slipping or damaging the recess.

Why is a Torx (TX) recess an advantage on screws with a low head?

On screws with low heads, the recess depth is limited. A traditional hex socket (Allen) can easily round off under high tightening torque in such heads. The Torx drive instead distributes the torque evenly across six contact points, which prevents the recess from stripping and facilitates assembly with power tools.

What does it mean that the screw is manufactured in A2 stainless steel?

A2 steel (AISI 304 / 1.4301) provides excellent corrosion protection in outdoor environments, damp areas, and general industrial applications. It is the ideal choice for mechanical constructions, motor vehicles, enclosures, and electronics where the screw is exposed to weather and wind but is not in direct contact with salt water or acids (where A4 is required).

M2.5 /
